So Much Cool Technology

Posted 28 June 07 under ,

… and so little time. My top five technologies calling out for a project:

5. Tumblr

Create your own tumblelog in minutes — really slick stuff. Version 2.0 looks even cooler.

4. Haskell

From the website:

Haskell is a general purpose, purely functional programming language featuring static typing, higher order functions, polymorphism, type classes, and monadic effects.

Not that I understand what half that stuff is, but I think I’d enjoy coding something not object-oriented/MVC/template-based.

3. Movable Type

Movable Type is now open source. I’ve always liked hitting “Publish” in Movable Type and watching it generate a website, as opposed to simply updating an entry in a database. And anything associated with Daring Fireball is alright by me.

2. Camping

A friend recently recommended this incredibly small web framework. I love how self-contained Camping apps are, and the way request routing is handled right in the controller function headers.

1. Symphony

My joy at discovering that The Big Noob is back online was exceeded only by the discovery that the whole site is powered by Symphony, an incredibly cool CMS that uses XML and XSLT.

Now, to find someone to pay me to play with this stuff
